LABOR DAY

Labor Day is a national holiday celebrated in the Philippines every 1st of May, honoring the hard work and contributions of Filipino workers. For Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and seamen, this holiday holds special significance as they continue to strive for fairer working conditions abroad. It is one of the holidays that is celebrated every year, here in the Philipines. It is celebrated every May 01.

Labour Day is celebrated to honor every workers here in the Philippines and also other countries. We all know that every job in this world is not easy. Whether it is accounting, teaching, garbage collecting, farming or any. They are all hard works to do. That is why Labor Day is celebrated every year for us to celebrate and give honor to our hardworking laborers. This is to thank them for doing their work with so much effort and determination. This is to remind them that they are all appreciated and every work they are doing makes a really huge impact to our society.

Overall, workers are very determined on their jobs. They do their jobs with so much love and passion. We should thank them for working. We should fight for their right also, because some of them aren't accepting good treatment. Workers are very important to our lives. Without them, the world will not able to work. That's why Labor Day is important.

4th Quarter Reflection

Is this for real? I never thought I would be writing this Reflection blog sooner. The last reflection. I didn't notice that this school year is coming to an end. The day is fast, isn't it? It seems like a yesterday when I could hardly talk on the first day of school because of nervousness and it also seems like yesterday when I first wrote my reflection blog here. Time flies really fast.

This 4th quarter I had a lot of experience again, ike a cheerdance and final defense in our research. You know what? It seems like, I didn't even feel the 4th quarter because the time went by so fast. It seemed like it was just wind that passed me and suddenly realized that we are now heading to our last periodical test this quarter. I know this will be the last. I'm already attached to this section. I didn't expect myself to be attached to these people because in the first place, I didn't expect to be able to keep up with them. They were so energetic, the first day that I met them. Although, we are still shy with each other back then, I can feel their vibes. However, as time goes by, I realized that I was wrong. They were easy-goers and very approachable. That's why, I don't want this quarter to come to an end. It's hard to let go. However, I am thankful to this school year, to my classmates, to my teachers, God, and to all including this platform. In the future, I can just go back to this platform and reread all of these reflections and reminisce my last year of being a Junior High School.

Overall, I am very glad for this school year. I learned a lot of things and experienced a lot of things this school year, although, it is now coming to an end. It is very sad but also exciting at the same time. I know this will be the last reflection blog that I will be posting here and that's why I want to leave a message to all that might be reading this blog. I just to say CONGRATULATIONS for coming this far. Lastly, to this school year, If you can just read this, I just want to say, Thank you and Goodbye!♡

SCARY YET REWARDING FUTURE

                            By: Damian Walsh

Future. What do you think about the future? How do you see yourself after how many years? Is there anyone that afraid about the future like me? Why I am afraid about it, you might ask. Well it is because future remains uknown and a mystery which is very scary and terrifying for me. We don't know what will happen to us in the future and also I think that the person who I am now will make it. However, even if it is scary, I sometime find it exciting and adventurous. Also, realized that we will not be the same person in 5-10 years which may seems scary but very rewarding at the same time.

In the near future, I just dream about having a peaceful, happy, and financially stable life. I want to have a permanent job where I can earn money and enjoy at the same time. Having a simple life, I guess. But on the other hand, I also dream of having a luxurious and elegant life. Living on a mansion, having a rest house, owning a car and more. However, dream will remain just a dream if there will no goal. Having a goal is the key to reach those possible and maybe the impossible dream of mine.
Also, in the near future where I can freely do whatever I want where I can make some good memories and live my life. Attend BTS's concerts. I want to meet these 7 people who inspired me and taught me how to value myself. They are the reasons why I want to travel the world.I wanna go on a pure roadtrip someday, alone or with someone genuine/friends. I wanna get away. Get away if ever things are getting hard hard for me.
Explore places. I want to discover places and go to places that I only see on tv.
Sleep in the car, stop a lot just to admire the view. Visit museums and try out tea/coffee shops, listen to my favorite albums while driving, take pretty pictures of the sunrise, take gorgeous pictures of myself, run through a forest, chase fog and the sun, spend hours on a field making flower crowns with my friends, feel the wind in my hair, meet new people knowing I’ll never meet them again, take time to observe. I wanna make memories. We only live once as they say. I don't want to waste my time and life for not being adventurous and I don't want to have a regret for not trying these things. I want to enjoy life.

Overall, future is not something to be afraid of. It is unknown but it is exciting. In the near future, I just want to be financially stable, happy and peaceful. I have a lot of dreams and I'm planing to achieve them all. I want to be succesful. Just like Colin Powell said, "A dream doesn't become reality through magic, it takes sweat, determination and hardwork". That's why in order to achieve these dreams, I need to be patient and hardworking, so that in the future my "soon" will become "finally".

Change Begins Within Us

CHANGE; IT STARTS WITH ME

Change, it starts with me.
 What's the first thing that
comes into your mind about
 that phrase? What is your
insights about it?
Well for me, this phrase means
a lot. In my own opinion,
if you really want to change
something
in your life, it must begin with
 you, yourself.
Change. If you want a change, you
should start it with yourself.
But how can we change a thing, on our own?
According to the book that I'm
still currently reading called "Atomic Habits",
if you want to change something in your life,
 it always starts with yourself.
Fixing your daily lifestyle, changing your habits,
improving your routine and so on.
It said there that tiny and small changes make a big difference.
For example, you want to loss weight, so what you're gonna do is to
start it with yourself.
Start motivating yourself that you can do it. Start dieting, exercising,
and changing your habits.
This is what the book is trying to say, to start changing our habits for
 us to achieve our goals.
Like for us students, our goal every quarter's test is to have a high
score on exam,
so in order to achieve that goal, we must change our habits.
Habits that are unnecessary and unimportant.
If we want to change something around us, we must start it with
ourselves. For example, last April of 2022
the #lettheearthbreathe was trending because of the worsening of
 climate change
that is happening to our world.
This time, a lot of my friends of facebook shared and spread this
 awareness including me,
which is very helpful in some ways.
Like me, I started deleting all unnecessary messages, emails and files
 in my phone,
I'm also trying my best to not use a lot of plastics.
But then, at the end of the day, some people doesn't really do anything
to help saving our planet. Like Mahatma Ghandi said,
If you want to change the world, start it with yourself. Sharing and
spreading awareness is not enough for us to save the world,
but doing some tiny changes and small things could.

In conclusion, change starts with us. Like John C. Maxwell said, “Most
people want to change the world to improve their lives,
but the world they need to change first is the one inside themselves.”
You can't just have words, it must also be accompanied by actions.
Actions that can make a great difference and change
on you and to anything around you.
We must always keep in mind
that yourself is the key to change.

THE OLDER VERSION OF ME

                                                             OLDER VERSION OF ME

Mother. What's the first thing that comes into your mind when you hear the word "mother"? Maybe some of you will think, a parent or the one who gave birth to us. But for me she is more than that. My mother is like a ray of sunshine after a storm, she is like the rainbow after a rain, and a moon at the darkness night. She is the most important person in my life, together with my dad.

When I was a kid, I thought my mom was a superhero. Maybe I am not alone right? When we were little, we used to think that our parents are our superheroes. I used to think that she is wonderwoman, who is strong and powerful. But as I grew older, I realized I was wrong. She is more than that. She is more than a superhero. She is more than a superhero in a sense that every problem, she manages to scape all and resolves all of them. As I grow older, the more I understand a lot of things. I understood that life wasn't that easy at all and the world isn't that perfect that I used to think. Because of that, I realized how strong and courages my mom is. Her unconditional love for us is uncomparable.
She makes my breakfast and always making sure that I have lunch at school. When I crave for something, she makes sure to buy it or cook it for me. She always takes care for me, everytime I get sick. She always nag at me everytime I overuse my phone. She does everything just to make sure that me and my brothers are safe and healthy.

Overall, my mom is irreplacable.
She might me the grumpiest person I know, but she is also the warmest person I know. Her loud voice coming from the kitchen saying it's time for dinner sounds like a melody. She is the one I look for everytime I just came home and don't see her. I love all about her. Her voice, cooking, attitude and all. She is an angel in the shape of my mom. She is such a blessing. She might not be a perfect mother just like everyone else. In my next life, if I would want to be born as her child again.

3rd Quarter

https://pin.it/45rPntf

Another quarter has finnaly passed. Another quarter to begin. It's funny to think how time passes by really fast. We are now welcoming the last quarter for this school year. It means, we only have few months left. It means this is the last quarter. This means this is the LAST.

It makes me happy but at the same time, it really makes me sad, that we're finally welcoming another quarter. I realized that this is now the last quarter. It means this is my second to the last reflection blog that I'll be posting. So third quarter was indeed fun. When I think about third quarter, I remember the hiphop dance. It was one of the memorable memories of this quarter. Because of this, not only me but the whole class experienced body ache. Although it was tiring, I found happiness within it. It was nice practicing with the most fun people that I've ever met which are my classmates. Although it is very tiring, it was nice to experience this. Third quarter was a little drainy, there are a lot of school works, assignments, performance tasks and all. I'm hoping for this next quarter to be more easier but I think we will be more busier again since we are graduating.

Overall, I enjoyed this quarter even though it is draining. I will still continue to try my best for this coming quarter. I will make sure to always improve day by day. And also lastly, I will I will make sure to spend this last quarter of my junior highschool, the happiest and the most memorable.

SEMANA SANTA 2023

Holy Week is an important time for Christians throughout the world. Holy Week, the final week of Lent, begins on Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter. Holy Week is a time when Catholics gather to remember and participate in the Passion of Jesus Christ. A time when Jesus Christ sacrified his life for us.

Every year, Holy Week is one of the huge events that being held in our country. In this time, people are busy, specially the church. There are a lot of events that is happening during this time. It is a long holiday and that's why people can have time with God with their family and friends and also to rest from a very busy work or school. This Holy Week 2023, a lot of people specially from Metro Manila decided to have a vacation in province. They will go to resorts, they will do Visita Iglesia or even go back to their hometown, just like my brother did. Last week, Maundy thursday when he arrived at home. He was working on Manila and he decided to come home this holy week since it's rare to have a long vacation like this. There were a lot of activities or events that happened like the "Pursisyon" where a lot of people attended. I kinda dissapointed because I did not able to attend that since I have no one to go with. On the other hand, a lot of people, specially the elders that the Holy Week now is not the way it is like before when they were young. It used to be quite, people will not eat meat, you will never see people who are working at this time, there will be no radios that beating so loud. Time changed and so with this. Some people now, don't believe that these beliefs really makes sense and that's why it makes the older one dissapointed.

Overall, the Semana Santa 2023 was peaceful for me. This is the time when we need to reflect and regret to all of our sins. Jesus Christ sacrified his life for us, that's why we need to thank him by doing good things. Semana Santa is a reminder to us, how Jesus Christ loves us and how he can sacrifice his life just to save us. Let us remember to be always be greatful to God and let's thank him for all that we have.

ISNHS DAY

Celebrating 121st years of educational excellence with its unique self-paced, ISNHS has added another year of quality and impressive education, last saturday March 25, 2023 with the theme ‘’Renewed Commitment in Defying Odds to Transcend Heights of Excellence and Solidarity ’’. It is the one of the highlights of the school every year that most of the students are waiting for.

The first part of the said occasion was the Thanksgiving Mass which was held at the ISNHS Centennial Gymnasium at 8:00 am. While the second part of the foundation day was the program at 10:00 am. The program was started with the welcoming address by Mrs. Editha C. Bagcal the Principal IV of the ISNHS, followed by the message of Ms. Gemma Q. Tacuycuy and the intermission number of the selected Grade 10 students. The program's Master's of Ceremony were Mrs. Czarise R. Peria and Mr. Aldrin D. Dela Cruz. The joyful music and decorations brought about the festive ambiance of the Ilocos Sur National Higschool community perked up the ISNHSians after the non-stop blessing given by Miss Charmaine Antiporda who was the Guest of Honor and Speaker of the said occasion and the inspirational talk with Dr. Vida Margarette Andal Bueno. After that, the Awarding of Plaque of Recognition to the Guest Speaker and another intermission number by the Teacher's Choir were next. Awarding of Outstanding Teachers, Employees and Retirees plus the Words of Gratitude of Mr. Rommel R. Rabo were also part of the said program. The second part of the program was ended by the Closing Song, Walang Hanggang Pasasalamat.
Finally, the third and last part of the event was the field demo at 1:00 pm. It was started by the prayer led by Mr. Joseph Q. Obrero and the welcoming address by Mr. Reynario T. Viloria. Next was the Field Demonstration, Calisthenics (Galaw Pilipinas, Festival Dances ( Kannawidan Festival) and the Hiphop Dancers. Also, the Tradtional Games by FEC Officers, Booths by SSG are part of the third part of the event. Lastly the Words of Gratitude was delivered by Mrs. Judeliza M. Refuerzo. It was nice but I just got to witness the afternoon program  or the third part of the program which is the field demo. One of the most amusing part is when the Mapeh teachers and some students danced the Galaw Pilipinas. I was very amazed on how they danced and also it is eye pleasing to see how plenty they are and how they danced with a smile on their faces despite of the heat since it is 1 pm in the afternoon.

Foundation day in school is indeed fun, as Chad Sugg said "Enjoy your Youth, you'll never be younger than you are at this very moment". Students and teachers enjoyed this event especially since it has been almost 3 years since the last face-to-face celebration of this event. The efforts and hardworks of all ISNHSians facilitators, event organizers, students and teachers really paid off.

Where There Is A Woman, There Is Magic.

 THE STRONG WOMEN

The Women's Month Celebration has served as a venue to highlight women's achievements and discuss continuing and emerging women's empowerment and gender equality issues and concerns, challenges, and commitments.
In the Philippines, March is widely recognized as Women's Month, a time to honor and appreciate the significant contributions made by women to society. This month-long celebration aims to raise awareness about women's struggles for gender equality and their rights. National Women's Month aims for gender equality and anti-feminism. It promotes anti-discrimination to women.

In the past, women had no role at all, because they were barred and experienced discrimination. They were
not given the same rights as men. Women are considered weak and coward. But over time, women have gradually proven that they have the strength and courage to do what men can do. That's why, in order to recognize the Filipino women to our society, Presidential Proclamation No. 227 Series of 1988 declared March to be observed as Women's Role in History Month, and Republic Act No. 6949 Series of 1990 designated March 8 of each year as National Women's Month. Women are powerful, they can do almost anything, and they seem to do twice as much work as men. Women, like mothers in our society, have to work or find a job to feed their family, and when they come back to their house, they will do their housework again, which is why most mothers have no rest. . Women, especially mothers who have heavy duties and responsibilities in our community, should only be saluted and respected.
Overall, worldwide experience shows clearly that supporting a stronger role for women contributes to economic growth, it improves child survival and overall family health, and it reduces fertility, thus helping to slow population growth rates. In short, investing in women is central to sustainable development. The sacrifice of women is priceless. They are very exemplary, and their contribution to our family and society is immeasurable. Let's always remember that women can do anything. They are strong, brave and responsible that's why let's promote women empowerment, let's promote gender equality.

A Day, Full of Love

                                                             A Day Full of Love

We celebrate Valentine's every at exact date February 14. But why do we celebrate Valentine's Day? Well, Valentine's Day originated as a Christian feast day honoring a martyr named Valentine. Through later folk traditions, it has become a significant cultural and commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world. Everytime February comes, you'll start to see a lot of heart decorations around you. Some people are excited celebrating it, while others don't. It is because some people thinks that Valentine's is just celebrated by people who have partners, but what they don't realize is that Valentine's is for all, for friends, family, teachers, coworkers, and more.

Before Valentine's, my classmates decided to exchange gifts on Valentine's in order for us to receive a gift on this day (especially most of us are single haha). We draw names and I got Angel. February comes. I greeted my parents a HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY and kissed them. After that I went to school and it was quite cute since it is my first time, giving a gift to anyone (except, my parents) in Valentine's. The one who got my name was Gade and I was pleased on what he gave to me, it was a lot of foods. I also got flower from Neriah. It was all cute. Later on that day, I greeted my online friends.

Moving on, I realized that Valentine's was not only for people who have partners. I admit it that at first, I was really bitter. But as time goes by, I realized that there is something more, about Valentine's. Valentine's is a month of Love and Heart. I realized that love does not only work romantically for couples, there is more than that and it is the unconditional love that we give and receive from our family and friends. Everyday is Valentine. We choose to love and care to people especially our loved ones, everyday. Sometimes, the greatest love is not found in dramatic scenes that poets and writers immortalize. Often, the greatest manifestation of  love are the simple act of kindness and caring that we extend to those we meet along the path.   Love is for everyone, yourself, family, friends, and God.

Kannawidan Festival 2023

                                                               Kannawidan Festival

Kannawidan Festival, it is the Festival that not only the City of Vigan celebrates but the whole province of Ilocos Sur. Kannawidan is a variant of the Ilocano word "tawid" meaning heritage or inheritanceIt commemorates the separation of the two Ilocos provinces in 1818. Last February 2, 2023 was the 205th Founding Anniversary of the Province of Ilocos Sur. The celebration is considered as the prime festival  of the province and is visual and is a feast for the indigenous costumes, dances, and songs, religious  rituals, cookfest and trade fairs that showcases distinctly  Ilocano  products.  Kannawidan Ylocos Festival became an annual festival that aims to create awareness on the preservation of the province' rich cultural heritage, practices and traditionds, and a showwcase of the different agriculture and industry products of the province.

Kannawidan festival has always been fun and exciting, but then Covid 19 happened. It was the time when they  need to temporarily stop the  celebration o Kannawidan. It is because it s really dangerous to hold  a concerts and contests. After 2 years, Kannawidan is finally back.  Here, you can experience and witness the whole indigenous performances, religious rituals, and more. Kannawidan Abel Iluko Fashion Show, Kannawidan Street Dancing, Battle of the bands, Kannawidan Float Parade, Kannawidan LGBT Festival Queen are just some of the activities that people do. Abel Iloko, Bagnet, Pinakbet are just some of the products of Ilocanos that you can try here. Kanawidan promotes the rich culture of  Ilocanos.

Kannawidan has always been part of people lives here, and if you ask them how they feel about it, I can ensure that you'll only hear positive comments about it. It is always fun. The Government of Ilocos Sur never fails to impress and to put smile on the faces of their people. A lot of Filipino artists are coming and celebrating this festival with us and that's why Kannawidan has always been fun. This year, Mikael Daez joins  Meghan Young and Sophia Senoron hosting the Miss Ilocos Sur 2023 pageant.  As a BigueƱo, I am happy and proud to be celebrating Kannawidan festival. It never fails to impress me. Overall, Kannawidan was great this year, and I am looking forward for more years to celebrate this festival.
