DISTANCE LEARNING

By: Laura Rigolosi

Distance Learning. Do you know why we ended up in this situation? Well, it is because of Covid-19 pandemic which started in 2020. We all suffered because of this. We were locked down for almost a year. This pandemic put us on a lot of pressure and suffering. The economic of our country, went down, a lot of workers ended up losing their jobs. A lot of businessmen went bankrupt and forced to close their shops or businesses. Also, Department of Education, decided to temporarily close the schools for the safety of their students and also the teachers. But DepEd knew that they need to take an action. Learners and students need to continue their studies, but it's still dangerous for the students to have physical classes, that's why they came up with a solution. DepEd proposed the "Distance Learning" which is online class and modular learning. Students will study in online class and answer their modules. This way, teachers and students will be protected from the threat of Covid-19 pandemic.

As a student, how was my experience about distance learning? Well, Covid started when I was on 7th grade. It means, the Distance Learning, started when I was on 8th grade. It's really difficult. I didn't have enough time. I lacked of Time Management. Especially, the first week of having distance learning, it was hard for me, because that time there's still no online classes. It's just printed modules and you'll need to learn by yourself. But then, as time pass by, I learned to manage my time. Though, I'm still struggling about the lessons, I think it's easier than before. Though, it was hard because there's no groupings when there is a Thematic Output, I still managed to finish all of the tasks by myself.

I managed to finish grade 8 and 9 because I trusted myself. I always said to myself that "I can do it" and "Fighting". Having a positive mindset and having a trust on yourself is the key. Also, there's people around you that can help you. Like mine, I have friends, family, teachers and classmates who helped me when I find the lesson hard to understand. They supported me and cheered on me.

Now, the Distance Learning has finally come to an end. Students are already attending schools. We will learn a lot in school. I'm thankful because the situation is more lighter this time. Now, I just need to learn and remind myself again to trust myself and think positively.
I think that's the key to success, including being a hardworking students. That's why all I need to do is study hard to have a good life.

  1. Your self-trust and self-love is an astonishing aspect of yours and is beyond admirable. Your blog entry is an inspiration to all of us, or to me at least, to trust and love oneself. Continue studying hard, Malaika! 🤩
